Mike Messitt

Vocals, acoustic and electric guitar

Mike draws on forty years’ experience performing, songwriting, recording and producing blues, Celtic and Americana music in New York while launching a parallel professional career in public and higher education administration. In 2013 he produced a CD   “Hour of The Wolf”, for singer songwriter Amy Collins.  As a New York based Celtic musician, he spent 5 years on the Irish Festival circuit sharing the stage with artists including Young Dubliners and Enter The Haggis.  He anticipates that his move to a warmer climate and passion for oysters will eventually cure his seasonally-affected disorder. Mike’s playing draws inspiration from many sources ranging from bluesman Guitar Slim to Irish multi-instrumentalist Donal Lunny.

Lorraine WaughnLorraine Messitt

Vocals, electric and acoustic bass, mandolin, percussion

Lorraine’s immersion in music of the 60s as a teen was ultimately her inspiration for the forming of The Problematics.  Forty years later, she has amassed experience performing and recording with rhythm and blues, and bluegrass bands in New York.  She has shared the stage with James Brown, Hall & Oates and Buckwheat Zydeco with the Philadelphia Zydeco-Cajun band, Alligator Zydeco. In addition to formal academic training in the dramatic arts, she intertwined music with an arts-related professional career path that included Film and Commercial acting, Voiceovers, Entertainment agent, Art gallery management and Theatre production. Her musical tastes cover the spectrum from Del McCoury to Dusty Springfield.  When not traveling the world, she can be found enjoying the beauty of local beaches days when gale force winds are not in the forecast.
